I made the SeatRack to haul long material or items inside my vehicle securely. It’s a steel rack that slots in place of your vehicle’s seat headrests – including ring washers to protect your headrest mount and protective ball post caps.

It allows me to load more quickly and easily than the roof rack, protect materials from weather, and lock them inside the vehicle as needed.

Pair two SeatRacks together to span from the front passenger seat to rear passenger seats (~9′ length in compact to mid-size SUVs). Or for a little longer capacity, go diagonally from the front seat through the center rear seat (~10′). Will fit up to sixteen 2x4s, eight 2x8s*.

Comes in bare steel – paint or Raptor Liner coatings available on request. The posts for SeatRack version 2 are adjustable (not pictured yet), so they should be a universal fit and offer some adjustability side-to-side as well. SeatRack’s posts are 3/8″ diameter, and can be adjusted from 4″ – 9″ spacing.

//Caution! Secure SeatRack down to an anchor point, and then secure your items to it very tightly to avoid shifting during hard braking. Don’t spear your windshield! Use at your own risk. //

*Note, the rack itself will be strong enough to hold far more weight than I’d recommend putting on top of an average seat, considering the bouncing and lateral forces from driving aroud. Use your judgment on weight limit and the stress to your seat; the insert point will commonly be a molded plastic piece that sticks into a more substantial structural part inside the seat. For example, I’ll load mine full with dry construction lumber, but I might load a little short if I’ve got wet/treated wood, or very short for steel stock.
